Living Leaves Can Crunch

Caitlin Kontaridis

Updated: Dec 23, 2021

There she lay, tangled with them leaves.

No way to know if she is awake.

There she lay, tangled with them leaves

No way to know if she is awake.

He tightens his grasp ever so firmly,

Her skin comes crawling and shakes.

Teacher and pupil hidden away-

He strikes fiercely with claws.

Teacher and pupil hidden away-

He strikes

fiercely with claws.

Cries muffled with crunches,

She is trapped in darkness with his flaws.

Night till mornin’ she remains,

To the sun exposing her skin.

Night till mornin’ she remains,

To the sun exposing her skin.

Waking her eyes-

With complete stuttered strain.

Mother calls for her,

To a silent reply.

Mother calls for her,

To a silent reply.

She is gone

Along another came to occupy.

Forgetting by soothing broth,

She disappeared with the wind.

Forgetting by soothing broth,

She disappeared with the wind.

Be gone with them leaves,

As the sun tears her skin.
