Stonewall Rising

Caitlin Kontaridis

Updated: Mar 19, 2021

The dark room held the voices in murmur,

As arms swayed with kisses and smiles.

Hush, hush!

One more word and the light will be shown.

Rush, rush!

The men in blue come stomping in.

The forbidden touch is now known,

Like Adam munching an apple,

God comes to throw the sinners.

But what makes a sinner,

When this sin is for a kiss

For a dance,

For an embrace,

For love?

All the lovers were mangled in fists.

To hide one's own desire

Isn't a crime,

So he threw one

And he tackled him.

And at last, a fight for love.

Those red and white stripes don't show

Rainbow embellishes each row.
